Teachers deserve a "Thank You" for ALL the things they do. I recently read an article about 48 things teachers do. Here's a quote from a teacher career site that also outlines some key elements for what of what an elementary teacher does.
Elementary school teachers are trained to educate children from kindergarten through fifth grade. This career demands communication, patience, creativity, and energy.
An elementary school teacher is responsible for the academic and emotional well-being of his or her students. As such, a teacher will need strong communication skills as well as the ability to be patient and understandin
Working with students of each level. A large amount of energy is needed for each day, as well as a great amount of creativity to keep students interested in learning.
As I think of parenting my kids and inter-acting with grand kids, I realize how much of a parallel there is between the skills my parenting requires what teaching my kids and grand kids requires .
Teachers are charged with meeting educational curriculum goals. Parents are are mandated with "grow up great"Â skills sets and character traits. But, in both cases the kid in front of a teacher and parent is the same kid. So, I guess the skill sets needed by both parent and teacher are quite simple.
All that said, as a parent you exactly how thankful we need be for what is takes to be a teacher and partner in equipping our kids to succeed.
